Nigel Turner was born in the United Kingdom in 1962. His career as a Landscape Photographer began during the late 1980’s when he traveled the United States with a Large Format Camera for a year, primarily capturing on film the majestic landscape of the American Southwest.

It was at this time that he held his first exhibition of fine prints at the Patrick Collins Gallery in Aspen, Colorado. This followed with a permanent exhibition in the Creekside Gallery, Sedona, Arizona, and Gallery Sur in Carmel, California where his work was shown for more than 10 years. He has held numerous exhibitions around the UK with the most notable venue being the Royal National Theatre in London and the Photographers Gallery Print Room.

His work has been published in many of the UK’s leading photographic magazines, including the British Journal of Photography, the Journal of the Royal Photographic Society and Photographer amongst many others. Nigel began his very successful series of Photographic Holiday Workshops back in 1994. These two week trips conducted around the American West have become very popular and Nigel has been proud to have been host to more than 1000 photographers.Nigel lives in Las Vegas with wife Mary and their two sons.

My interest in photography spans nearly 30 years and for the past 25 years or so I have specialised exclusively in landscape photography in both monochrome print and, until the digital age dawned, colour slide, in both the British Isles and the South-western United States. I was inspired by the work of Ansel Adams and resolved that one day I would visit Yosemite to see what the ‘master’ saw and to record my own images. That day came in 1996 when I joined Nigel on my first trip to the States and over the past 15 years I have travelled extensively in the South-western United States from California in the West to Colorado in the East and from Wyoming in the North to Arizona and New Mexico in the South. I have travelled with Nigel on his Landscape Photography Holiday Workshops on 7 occasions and made several other trips privately with photographers met on those workshops.

I have been an active member of Cannock Photographic Society for 25 years or more and have exhibited widely in International Salons since 1987. I judge at Club, National and International level and give talks and Photoshop demonstrations to photographic clubs and societies around the country and am co-author of two electronic books on Photoshop. A selection of my images, many of which were taken on Nigel’s Landscape Photography Holiday Workshops, can be seen on my web site www.monolandscapes.talktalk.net .

I was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society in 1992, the Excellence de la Federation Internationale d’Art Photographique - Platinum  (EFIAP/p) in 2003 and, as a 5* Mono Print Exhibitor of the Photographic Society of America, the PPSA in 2004. In 2006 I was honoured by the PSA with the award of the Associatship - APSA for Services to Photography.
