My clients are not really clients, well not after they have been on one of my Holiday Workshops. That’s because I truly care about the people that fork out their hard earned cash to come on one of my many trips. They become  friends, and that means more to me than anything, knowing that they have had an excellent time, with great memories and images to match.

Many of them enjoy themselves so much that they come year after year, until there aren’t any workshops that they haven’t done before!  But don’t just take my word for it, see for yourself below. Ever since I began running the workshop program back in 1994, I’ve kept a visitors book. How else can I gauge what people think if I don’t ask them to enter their comments ?

How can I expect to improve my service if I don’t have any feedback from the people that have been on a workshop? I can’t, can I ? And that would  bother me, because I really want to provide the best service that I can. I’ve entered a few of the comments from the visitors book below, from a selection of hundreds. When time permits, I shall enter a lot more of them, so check back regularly. Oh, and of course, they can all be verified.

Nigel’s Photographic Workshops offer a great opportunity for beginner and expert alike.  He knows where to go and even more important when to go.  His schedule is always flexible to take account of changes in conditions.  An intended short stay at a location can become much longer if super conditions prevail, or a stay might be shortened if conditions deteriorate.  This flexible approach enables his clients to get the maximum out of the time available.  He is always willing to give photographic advice to anyone who wants it, but does force it on everyone as can happen with some group leaders.  A holiday with Nigel is a great experience and should result in some super pictures.

“Nigel knows the States better than anyone I know. He lives there and therefore knows every location and more than those tours that just send tour leaders from the UK. Consequently he gets you in the right place at the right time, every time.”
-Barry Coventry.

” I have been on four workshops led by Nigel visiting a wide range of landscapes: canyons, deserts, mountains and lakes. In all these locations Nigel’s detailed local knowledge has meant that he has been able to get us to the right locations at the right time to take some great photographs. Nigel has a wealth of photographic experience so he is able to suggest techniques and the best use of equipment. His workshops are well planned and include transport and quality accommodation. Whether you are making your first trip, or are a regular, you’ll have a great photographic experience on one of Nigel’s workshops.”
-John Snable

“Nigel knows where the best locations are and when to go so you waste no time planning. Thse trips are for serious photographers and you have plenty of opportunity to make the most of each location. A rewarding experience.”
-Cecil Dawes

“What can I say:- “The proof of the pudding is in the eating” We came with you the first time on the personal recommendation of other photographers who had been on your workshops. We have now been with you twice and have booked again for this year; for the third time in four years. You take us to wonderful locations at the right time of year, and the right time of day. I have no doubt that Sheila and I would waste hours if not days looking for the places you take us. Both Sheila and I like entering International Exhibitions. I have now lost count of the number of successful exhibition pictures (some of them award winning) we have taken whilst on our first two trips with you. You have an easy way and a light touch that we find appealing.  We know that you will be ready to help if we ask, but you always give us space to “do our own thing” so to speak.   Unlike certain other tour leaders I could mention you always put your guests’ photography before your own.  I can well remember you encouraging us to get a shot of the alpine glow in the Tetons, even though you didn’t have time to get a frame off yourself.”
-David and Sheila Coates

“The Western US is a magnificent area for landscape photography, but it’s a vast area and finding the best locations requires much research and local knowledge. Nigel has that knowledge as a result of running his workshops for many years and his advice and planning is invaluable. He gets you to the right location at the right time of the day, the only factor he can’t plan for is the weather, but I can forgive him for that since it is generally good. Accommodation is about the best in each location and there is plenty of time to explore the local areas on one’s own. I have been on at least 6 of the workshops, some on two occasions and have always thoroughly enjoyed the experiences, capturing many memorable images. During his excellent tutorials he caters for photographers of all skill levels and he is always on hand to give advice at each location. I would recommend these workshops as an ideal way to capture the West and to increase one’s photographic skills.”
-Dr. David Jones

“If like me, you enjoy the outdoors and respond to the challenge of capturing competent images of the USA National Parks, be it film or digital, then this takes a lot of pre planning and local knowledge. On a two week holiday, stepping off the plane armed with a camera, sat.nav and a good guide book, most of your time would be taken up with planning, with no guarantee of turning up at the location at the correct time. I have been travelling with Nigel for many years now and have amassed a competent collection of images of the areas visited. On Nigel’s trips, all the pre planning has been done for you down to the last detail. That sunrise shot often includes him checking at 3am to see if the sky is clear and starry while you are tucked up in bed. No need to set the alarm either, as a conditionally adjusted wake-up call is part of the service. Tuition on location is almost on a one to one basis set at your level and comfort speed. Group tuition, including Advanced Photoshop, is more formal and is set at a higher level (depending on the group) than is experienced on similar trips organised by other companies. You will need your notebook and pencil for this and will enjoy putting it into practice at a later date. All in all, if you want to see the best locations the area has to offer with like- minded, enthusiastic people taking images to be proud of, then you will understand why people like myself  travel with Nigel time after time.”
-Mr. Bob Morrison

” Another fantastic trip to the States with Nigel - my 5th so far and another booked for this year. You cannot better the great organisation behind these trips, the ability to be in the right place at the right time, the first class accommodation and, above all Nigel’s sincere concern for all aspects of the groups wellbeing and enjoyment. And then there’s the awesome scenery, of course coupled with the opportunity to capture some great images! Excellent value for money when compared with the offerings of other UK based companies and individuals. Thanks, Nigel - see you in Yellowstone!’
-Mr. Peter Clark. FRPS.

” I travelled with you on your “Canyons of the South West” tour and I have to say you took us to wonderful locations affording fantastic photographic opportunities.  I returned with a wealth of first class photographs, which have stood me in good stead at my Camera Club competitions. All the time you were on hand to help everybody in the party who required assistance, irrespective of their grade of photographic experience.  Other tours I have been on with other companies, their leaders gave a very small amount of instruction, and were mainly interested  in going off to take their own images, leaving everyone to fend for themselves.   You, however always gave 100% and ensured that everyone on your tour got on extremely well together. I shall certainly travel with you again, and indeed look forward to it…”
-Mr. Paul Hayward.

” My wife, son (in late 20’s) and I experienced the full delights of Nigel’s “Canyons in the Southwest in fall” workshop in November’08 - and what an experience it was! We had always wanted to spend proper time at Zion, Bryce and Monument Valley and this tour provided this as well as the vehicle to develop our increasing interest in photography as a serious hobby. We learnt so much, both in technique as well as computer skills during the many informal evening sessions. Nigel always got us to the right places at the right part of the day (for that light!) and was available to guide (not focussing on taking shots himself). We also had a lot of time to roam around as we wished in these extraordinary places - and we are delighted with the images we have printed off back home. The company on the trip was great (nice informal atmosphere) and it was interesting that for some, this was the 2nd or more Nigel Turner workshop. We too have decided to go on other trips as well! “
-Mr. Adrian Binney.

“ Nigel, Thank you for a super two weeks. We have some great photographs and this has been the best trip so far. The group were fun.. all 13 of us! There is always something to learn and we certainly did on this trip. Thanks again Nigel your a great leader… “
-John and Pauline Stiff.

” Two fantastic weeks, what fantastic locations, over a 1000 pictures all masterpieces (hopefully). Thanks Nigel you’ve been great… “
-Mr. George Warner.

“Two awesome trips with Nigel complete and it just leaves you wanting more… from the moment you step off the plane everything is organised for you and you are taken to the most amazing photography locations in the world and spend a fabulous two weeks with some great like minded people.  Tough to put it into words but trust me when I say that every sunrise and sunset location is unforgetable and Nigel’s enthusiasm is inspirational, top all that off with the best picnic lunches in the US what more could you want.  I’ll be booking my 3rd trip very soon, thanks Nigel…”
-Helen Trust

” They say time flies by when you are having fun. The last two weeks were filled with early starts, great locations and wonderful company. I have thoroughly enjoyed this trip and look forward to seeing my photos. Thank you Nigel for a really enjoyable trip, your time and advice.. “
-Ms. Kim Barnabas.

” A splendid trip in so many respects. The workshop was ably handled by Nigel and we have learnt a great deal. Nigel’s knowledge of photography combined with his intimate knowledge of the area ensured that we saw the best of the Southwest from the most exciting aspects ~ be it at sunrise or sunset. I certainly intend to make another trip with you…”
-Dr. Marjorie MacBeath.

” I came with you on your spring workshop to the canyons last year. I learned a great deal and it’s fair to say that I didn’t really appreciate how much I’d picked up on the trip until I started putting it into practice in the months after I got back. I also thoroughly enjoyed myself and it certainly doesn’t seem like almost a year ago. I fully intend to join you again at some point and would be grateful if you would please put me on your mailing list. Living by the sea myself the new Oregon trip in particular looks very attractive - though I don’t rule out another trip to the canyons, perhaps at a different time of year to get a different perspective…”
-Peter Williams

“Thank you very much for an excellent fortnight. I really enjoyed the holiday workshop in California. You’d obviously gone to a lot of trouble to ensure that the trip ran smoothly. Overall the trip was a marvelous experience. I saw a lot, learned a lot, and would not have missed it for anything…”
-Mr. Peter Hope-Jones.
